July 27, 2024 marks the 16th anniversary of Skvare, a digital agency that specializes in helping nonprofits and mission-driven organizations leverage open-source technologies to further their impact.  

This year we’re celebrating with a video series highlighting the unique approach and talents of every member of the Skvare team.

A Humble Beginning with a Bold Vision

Skvare’s story begins with it’s founder, Peter Petrik, whose vision and passion laid the foundation for what Skvare is today. Back in 2008, Peter was a founding member of the Dallas AfterSchool non-profit board. Driven by his commitment to free and open-source software, he rebuilt the organization’s technology infrastructure, implementing a Drupal and CiviCRM solution.

This successful implementation did not go unnoticed. Word spread quickly among North Texas non-profits, many of whom faced similar challenges in managing their operations. Recognizing the widespread need, Peter made a pivotal decision on July 27, 2008, to expand his efforts beyond a personal project and offer his expertise to the broader non-profit community. This marked the birth of Skvare.

From its inception, Skvare has been guided by the mission of helping nonprofits, associations, and advocacy campaigns leverage technology to amplify their impact. Our team of experts, now a global network, continues to build on this foundation, delivering innovative solutions that empower our clients to achieve their missions more effectively.

Climate Neutral Certified

In time for our 16th birthday, Skvare officially became Climate Neutral Certified through the Change Climate Project. This milestone underscores the value and impact we know we can have as a software company in taking responsibility for our carbon emissions.
