Skvare 2021 Update - Looking Back & Looking Ahead

We have a lot of gratitude at Skvare. Gratitude to our diverse clients. Gratitude to our exceptional and committed team. Gratitude for being able to solve problems and contribute better tools to the vast community of which we are a part.

Since we don’t reach out often, we thought we’d take the relative newness of 2021 as an opportunity to share what we have been up to, and what we’re looking forward to in the year ahead.

A Solid Team

After adding numerous full-time team members in 2019, we added two more in 2020, expanding our Developer and DevOps teams. I’m inspired daily by everyone’s stalwart commitment, internal motivation, and hunger to learn. We’re taking on bigger and more complex challenges, which just makes us ready for more.

CiviCRM Entity for Drupal 8 and 9

CiviCRM Entity is the Drupal module that provides a deep integration between Drupal and CiviCRM. That’s why we’ve contributed to the CiviCRM Entity Drupal module since 2014 and took over module maintenance in 2015. We are pleased to announce that version 3.0 is here! Get the champagne out! Drupal 8/9 with CiviCRM is better than ever!

Stay tuned for a free training series on how to get the most out of the improved functionality.

Open Source Contributions

The team contributed a ton of new open source solutions in 2020. Here are a few that especially stand out:

  • Automatically Create Drupal Users: This extension provides an easy UI for creating Drupal users directly from CiviCRM.
  • Custom Deduplication Settings: This extension provides granular controls for duplicate matching for CiviCRM contribution forms, profiles, and CMS user account creation processes.
  • Membership Extras: This extension provides more control over membership renewals per membership type.
  • CiviCRM Image Resize: This extension creates image styles that scale CiviCRM images to specific dimensions. Check out this case study for more.

We’ve also contributed improvements and financial support to the Webform CiviCRM Drupal module. The developer community, led by Karin Gerritsen of SemperIT, is doing great work to make Drupal+CiviCRM Webforms better than ever, and we are proud to be a part of this effort.

Nonprofit Trainings

We’ve partnered up with TechSoup to host the new Netsquared North Texas Meetup Group. Our calendar is packed during the next three months with a series of virtual training opportunities. Since location doesn’t matter, check out the topics and join us!

DevOps Scalability

Our amazing DevOps team has made significant improvements in our performance monitoring, infrastructure for automated testing, as well as a variety of security, backup, and deployment improvements. All of this makes scale easier… allowing any organization (no matter their size!) to have an enterprise-level infrastructure at an affordable cost.

Thank You

Thank you for being part of our journey. Skvare’s purpose has always been to help others help others. With so much uncertainty and heartbreak over the past year, we’re continually inspired by how you have adapted to stay true to your mission. We are grateful to be part of it. The window you provide into your community and the hope your mission brings makes our world a whole lot brighter.
